Effective work of judicial officers raises Lithuania to the top of the Doing Business 2020 ranking

Effective work of judicial officers raises Lithuania to the top of the Doing Business 2020 ranking

In 2020, Lithuania rose to 11th place in Doing Business – business community's most important ranking, published annually by the World Bank. This is the highest position achieved by Lithuania since the announcement of the said ranking.

Lithuania also assumes particularly honourable positions in terms of contract performance conditions. In Europe, Lithuania is second only to Norway, overtaking Estonia, Austria, Germany and other countries of the old democracy. And among 190 countries around the world, Lithuania ranks seventh in the field of contract performance. Such progress would not be possible without the effective work of judicial officers in enforcing court judgments.

Innovative debt collection solutions help ensure the best possible results of forced debt recovery. A Cash Restrictions Information System has been operating in Lithuania since September of 2015, ensuring the prompt seizure of funds in debtors' accounts, their scanning and proportional distribution to recoverers. Judicial officers also use their own effective data management tool – Judicial Officers' Information System which helps to quickly obtain data from official state registers. This system is used to prepare and store all enforcement documents, which are also available to the parties to the enforcement proceedings.
